How is 3D print cost calculated?

The real cost of a 3D print is more than the filament it uses. This calculator adds up three parts: filament cost (spool price per kg × grams used, including a waste percentage for supports, brims and purge lines), electricity cost (average printer power × print time × your price per kWh) and a failure buffer that spreads the cost of failed prints across successful ones. If you sell your prints, add a profit margin to get a suggested price.
